The first unit I received would not turn on, but to Amazon's credit, I received another unit from Amazon the very next day, even before I returned the defective unit. (Thanks Amazon!) The second shredder works great and is even better than my old Fellowes PS80C-2 shredder. However, be warned that this is quite a large unit, so be sure that the dimensions (26.625" x 15.75" x 12.1875") fit your planned location for a shredder. The B161C shredder is clearly intended for adult users. It does not have the Fellowes "Safe Sense Technology" that automatically disables the shredder when a hand touches the paper opening, but the opening is quite narrow and deep, so it seems unlikely that adult fingers could fit into the paper opening. I spent a few days researching shredders before deciding on this one. The cross-cut shreds are tiny. No one will ever get any information off of what you're shredding. The shredder is heavy and well-built, and the noise level is extremely low. And the price I paid for it here can't be beat.
